At Fowler General Store & Market, we believe some places are too special to become just another convenience store. They deserve to be preserved, celebrated, and shared with future generations.
Built in 1864, Fowler General has stood in the heart of the village for more than 160 years. With its original wide-plank pine floors, authentic pressed tin ceiling, and timeless country charm, the store offers visitors a chance to slow down and experience a piece of Ohio history.
Our roots run deep in the community. The village of Fowler traces its beginnings to 1798, when Samuel Fowler purchased the land from the Connecticut Land Company. His family helped establish the township, which was later renamed in their honor. Today, the surrounding Fowler Historical District remains one of the area’s most treasured landmarks, and we’re proud to be part of that story.
While our building is historic, our vision is focused on creating a place where neighbors gather, families make memories, and visitors discover something they simply can’t find anywhere else.
Inside the store, you’ll find an old-fashioned country atmosphere filled with nostalgic candy, glass-bottled sodas, our signature Fowler Fizz old-fashioned fountain sodas, antiques, toys, unique gifts, local products, grocery essentials, and one-of-a-kind treasures waiting to be discovered.
Our on-site Amish Kitchen & Bakery serves fresh breakfast, lunch, and a daily dinner special, along with homemade baked goods, made-to-order deli subs, soups, fresh local Amish produce, and comforting homestyle favorites prepared with care.
More than just a place to shop, Fowler General has become a destination for community events, seasonal celebrations, car cruises, craft workshops, family activities, and gatherings that bring people together throughout the year.
In 2026, Fowler General began a new chapter under new ownership with a simple mission: preserve the history, honor the community, support local makers and farmers, and create an unforgettable experience for every guest who walks through our doors.
